  GIS Installation

Install GIS System

Visitors to the RSOPS website may now monitor the Capitana Project using our advanced Geographic Information System for Marine Archaeology.  Designed by 3H Consulting, this system is proving to be an exceptional management tool that allows us to efficiently manage and thoroughly document and excavate each shipwreck.

Visitors to our website may begin using this system by following these instructions;

Step 1 -

Download and install the Site Reader.  This program will allow you to view the Capitana site file and interact with the data we have been generating.

Download Site Reader

(3.12 Mb)

Step 2 -

Once you have installed Site Recorder Reader you need to download the Site Archive.  This is the archive that contains the wreck site data.  This is a self extracting ZIP file.  Simply execute the file and it will automatically install itself in the following directory; C:\Recorder Package.

Download Site Archive

(7.7 Mb)

Step 3 -

Once the Site Recorder Reader and Site File have been installed, open Site Reader, then browse to c:\Recorder Package and open the file with the .rcd extension.  Once this file is open you will be able to view the wreck site, turn on\off data layers, view photographs of the wreck, artifacts recovered and much more.
